Anna Afonso, MD
Anna Afonso is a Board-Certified Family Physician. She completed her residency, medical school, and undergraduate studies at Duke University in Durham, NC. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Duke University and Master of Public Health degree, with a concentration in Biostatistics, from the University of Georgia.
Anna was drawn to family medicine because it offered the opportunity to form long term relationships with patients as well as the opportunity to incorporate prevention and education early and effectively. Anna is interested in using diet and exercise to prevent and treat lifestyle related chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. She is comfortable seeing patients of all ages. Her heritage is Argentinian Vietnamese and she is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Afonso is originally from Connecticut but has been living in North Carolina for over ten years now. In her spare time, Anna enjoys exploring the outdoors, making trips to the beach, yoga, and learning songs on the guitar.
